Offline Routing

Newtracs offers fully offline routing, allowing you to plan and navigate routes without any mobile reception or internet connection. This is particularly useful for remote exploration and multi-stop trip planning.

Prerequisites

• Downloaded offline map for your region
• Latest version of the Newtracs app
• Location permissions enabled

Creating a Route

1. Open Map View
2. Tap the Create Route button
3. Long-press on the map to set your destination waypoint
4. Use the Snap function to align the route to roads
5. Tap Save to store the route locally on your device

Routes are currently saved on your device only. Account-linked route saving is in development.

Navigate from Saved Items

You can also start navigation from any saved item:

1. Use Search or open Saved Items
2. Select your destination (trail, pin, campsite, or POI)
3. Tap the Navigate icon to calculate an offline route

Route Options

The app presents available route options including:

• Fastest on-road route
• 4WD / Off-road prioritised route
• Alternative routes when available

Each option shows total distance and estimated travel time.

Note: Routing does not take into account your vehicle type or trail difficulty ratings. Always review the route manually before heading out.

Multi-Stop Planning

To add multiple stops to a route:

1. After setting your primary destination, long-press additional locations to add more stops
2. Drag waypoints to reorder them
3. Tap Undo to remove the last added stop

You cannot insert a stop between the starting point and the first destination — additional stops are added after the primary destination only.
