About Gibb River Road
The Gibb River Road is 660 km of unsealed road connecting Derby to Kununurra through the heart of the Kimberley. It's not extreme technical driving — but the distances, the river crossings, the corrugations, and the remoteness add up to a serious undertaking that rewards preparation.
The main track is accompanied by a series of highly worthwhile side routes: Bell Gorge, Tunnel Creek, Windjana Gorge, Manning Gorge, Barnett River Gorge, Adcock Gorge, Drysdale River, and the Mitchell Falls Plateau road. Each adds time and fuel consumption. Most groups allow 7–10 days end-to-end with the key side tracks included.
