About Cape York
Cape York Peninsula is Australia's longest and most famous 4WD journey. The run from Cairns to the tip of the Cape — via the Telegraph Track — is bucket-list driving that takes most groups seven to fourteen days return, passes through genuine tropical wilderness, and demands a well-equipped vehicle and an experienced driver.
The Telegraph Track is only part of the Cape story. The Peninsula Developmental Road (the bypass) is more forgiving for standard rigs. The Mungkan Kandju National Park and Lakefield National Park have their own track networks. The Pajinka Wilderness Lodge at the tip marks the end of the continent.
