Pajero Hill stands as one of Australia's most unforgiving 4WD challenges, delivering an adrenaline-pumping 0.6 km assault that separates experienced drivers from the rest. Near Bowenfels in New South Wales, you'll encounter a brutal 78% grade that demands respect, precision, and serious mechanical advantage. This isn't a trail for the unprepared—you'll need a winch mounted and ready before you even approach the base, as the extreme angle offers no room for error or recovery without mechanical assistance.

The terrain itself is raw and relentless. You'll be navigating loose rock and deeply rutted earth as the hillside threatens to reject your vehicle with every metre gained. The short duration—typically completed in around 9 minutes—is deceptive; those minutes will feel stretched as you carefully modulate throttle and steering while fighting gravity's pull.
