The Chromite Mine Track delivers an exciting blend of history and challenging driving near Buragwonduc, with remnants of Victoria's mining heritage scattered throughout the route. You'll navigate a medium-difficulty 10.8 km course that rewards experienced off-roaders with varied terrain and impressive natural features. The track's 12% steep grade sections demand your full attention and proper vehicle control, particularly during descent where momentum management becomes critical.

You should expect a mix of rocky outcrops, rutted sections, and tightly vegetated passages that keep you engaged throughout the 68-minute journey. The landscape transitions between open forest clearings and dense bush, offering both technical challenges and scenic vistas. Winter conditions can render sections muddy and slippery, so timing your visit for drier months is recommended. Ensure your vehicle is well-maintained with good ground clearance and appropriate tyres—this isn't a gentle cruise.
