4WD Tracks in Top End

The NT Top End means Kakadu, Litchfield, and Arnhem Land — tropical 4WD country where the tracks are determined by the wet season and the dry season is when you go. Kakadu National Park has an extensive 4WD track network including the famous Jim Jim and Twin Falls access road, the Arnhem Highway back-tracks, and the Kakadu's southern wilderness zone.

Litchfield National Park west of Darwin has popular and accessible 4WD routes to the magnetic termite mounds, Wangi Falls, and the Florence Falls backcountry access. Arnhem Land is a permit-only Aboriginal land area requiring advance permission from the Northern Land Council — but the rewards are extraordinary.
