Near Waitui, this brutal 0.8 km stretch tests your vehicle's capabilities and your nerve with its punishing 15% grade and technical terrain that separates serious off-roaders from casual weekend warriors. You'll need a well-maintained 4WD with genuine ground clearance and recovery gear—this isn't a trail for the unprepared.

The drive itself is intense rather than lengthy, condensing maximum difficulty into minimal distance. You'll navigate steep rocky sections where momentum and line choice are everything, with loose surfaces threatening to derail your approach at every turn. The surrounding landscape offers little mercy; this is raw, unforgiving terrain where concentration cannot lapse. Visibility can be compromised by dust and the trail's narrow passages, so smooth inputs and controlled throttle management are essential.
